– PRESIDENT OF WORLD ROMA ORGANIZATION JOVAN DAMJANOVIC ON INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF ORDER OF ST. LAZAR IN AUSTRIA-WIEN



President of World Roma Organization Rromanipen Jovan Damjanovic was on 8th November 2012 on the International meeting of Order of St. Lazar in Wien, on invitation of Prof Dr Wolfgang Rohrbach – High Representative of the Priory of Austria for Serbia.

It should be mentioned that on this meeting were present several significant and eminent representatives of Order from many European countries. Prof Dr Wolfgang Rohrbach have first met present persons with important Order’s principles- appreciation of every human being and commitment for the all aspects of human existence, as well as other objectives: engagement for jeopardized and charitable engagement.


President of World Roma Organization Jovan Damjanovic after that thanked to Prof Dr Wolfgang Rohrbach who invited him to this eminent Order’s meeting, as well to all other present persons, and after that he briefly informed present persons with some of objectives and tasks of World Roma Organization Rromanipen. “We will plead to have a right on establishing of our institutions, our cultural institutions, right for learning of Roma language in schools, and that our culture is developed in far more greater manner – said president Damjanovic.”



In further exposure, president of World Roma Organization Jovan Damjanovic highlighted that creation of the Roma educational elite in entire world is one of the priority tasks of our Roma national community. To this end, Damjanovic explained that it is final time for Roma to establish its national institutions. As an example, he stated that in Serbia should be established University, where would be created Roma staff who would have for task and objective to educate educational staff, who would in the final instance support that Roma are educated on mother tongue, which is in deep accordance with European Charter for regional or minority languages from 1992.


Equally, president of World Roma Organization Jovan Damjanovic underlined that one of important conditions for development and integration of Roma national community in entire world is establishing of World Roma Organization’s offices in all countries whose representatives are members of World Roma Organization, amongst whom is also Austria.


Prof Dr Wolfgang Rohrbach – High Representative of the Priory of Austria for Serbia and president of Serbian-Austrian friendship, thanked for exhaustive exposure of president of World Roma Organization Jovan Damjanovic, in which he recognized that between Order of St. Lazar and World Roma Organization there are connecting points, which is condition for reception of World Roma Organization into the Serbian-Austrian friendship. Prof Dr Wolfgang Rohrbach expressed his warmth with idea about establishing of University for Roma national minority in Belgrade, as well with opening of office of World Roma Organization in Wien, and expressed assurances that he will advocate maximally for realization of mentioned proposals.


President of World Roma Organization Jovan Damjanovic thanked for acquiring great honour to be received into the membership of Order of St. Lazar, and as a sign of gratitude, he awarded Golden Charter of World Roma Organization to Prof Dr Wolfgang Rohrbach - High Representative of the Priory of Austria for Serbia.
