PRESIDENT AND AMBASSADOR FOR PEACE ON THE INTERNATIONAL HOLOCAUST REMEMBERANCE DAY, JANUARY 27th, 2018
"Although some progress has already been made, the Roma are still outcasts from many social areas. They are still subject to discrimination and prejudice.
The Nazi regime was the embodiment of all hatred towards other nations that bothered them because of the colour of their skin, ethnic affiliation, religion, social status ... So many lives disappeared in the smoke of Nazi crematoriums, in camps, and the final number will never be known.
In today's, modern world of our democratic countries, all judiciary and police systems, educational and health institutions, many governmental and non-governmental organizations, and the media, should work to eradicate and sanction any discriminatory action in any sphere of social life, in joint forces with the help of ordinary people." - said Jovan Damjanovic, President of the World Roma Organization and Ambassador for Peace.
